Department of Shenanigans Guide to Responsible Chaos
The Department of Shenanigans fully supports ambitious engineering, unnecessary railroads, questionable automation, and machines that probably should have had a safety inspection.
However, in the interest of keeping the world fun for everyone, all players are expected to follow the following Guide to Responsible Chaos.
The goal is simple:
Build ridiculous things. Be decent. Don’t ruin the fun.

Do not destroy, damage, sabotage, flood, explode, dismantle, reroute, or “creatively improve” another player’s builds, machines, farms, trains, storage systems, claims, or projects without permission.
Accidents happen. If you break something, say something and help fix it.
Responsible chaos does not include pretending you did not just reverse a train through someone’s wall.

If it is not yours, do not take it unless it is clearly marked as public, shared, or free to use.
Community resources are for the community. Public does not mean infinite, and shared does not mean “take everything and leave one piece of cobblestone.”
Borrowing is temporary. Stealing is permanent borrowing with worse manners.

Use land claims responsibly.
Do not claim around someone else’s base, block another player’s expansion, trap players, cut off access, or use claims to create drama.
Leave reasonable space around other players’ builds unless you are working together on an officially questionable project.
Good neighbors build roads, rails, signs, and bridges.
Bad neighbors build a smoke-belching potato refinery three blocks from someone else’s front door without asking.

Jokes, silliness, strange builds, unnecessary railways, ridiculous machines, and mild chaos are welcome.
Harassment, bullying, slurs, threats, targeted cruelty, or making the server miserable for someone else are not.
The Department of Shenanigans recognizes two categories of chaos:
Mild chaos: encouraged.
Toxic chaos: absolutely not.

Do not use hacked clients, x-ray, dupes, unauthorized exploits, or anything else that gives an unfair advantage.
If you find a bug, report it. Do not build your entire industrial empire on “definitely not a dupe glitch.”
Creative engineering is good.
Cheating with extra steps is still cheating.

Create machines are awesome. Ridiculous machines are encouraged. Server-melting machines are not.
Avoid unnecessary lag farms, runaway item loops, massive unattended contraptions, or machines that keep chunks loaded for no good reason.
If your machine requires a warning label, a prayer, and a server restart, please reconsider.
The Department of Shenanigans supports innovation, but not at three ticks per second.

Trains are one of the best parts of Shenanigans.World.
Do not intentionally block, destroy, steal, reroute, derail, crash, or otherwise interfere with another player’s trains or railway systems.
Public railways should remain usable, understandable, and at least theoretically safe.
A train is transportation.
A train is not a weapon, prank, hostage, or mobile griefing platform.

Roads, railways, bridges, community farms, shared factories, spawn resources, and public builds exist to help everyone.
Do not monopolize, vandalize, privatize, secretly loot, or deliberately break public infrastructure.
If you improve something public, great.
If your “improvement” makes everyone ask, “What happened here?” maybe ask first.

Create contraptions can be delicate, confusing, and held together by hope.
Do not randomly flip switches, remove belts, change filters, empty vaults, reverse gearboxes, redirect trains, or “test something real quick” on someone else’s machine without permission.
If you do not know what a machine does, assume it is either important, dangerous, or both.

No rule list can cover every possible shenanigan.
If something feels like it would obviously cause problems, start drama, destroy someone’s work, annoy everyone, or require an admin investigation, do not do it.
When in doubt, ask.
When still in doubt, ask again.
When tempted to say, “I wonder if this will crash the server,” stop.

Build something cool. Help someone new. Connect a railway. Share resources. Start a town. Improve a path. Label a machine. Fix a bridge. Automate something absurd. Leave behind something that makes people glad you joined.
Responsible chaos means your presence makes Shenanigans.World more fun, more interesting, and more alive.
The goal is not just to avoid breaking things.
The goal is to help build a world worth exploring.
Final Rule
Build ridiculous things.
Be decent.
Don’t ruin the fun.
By order of the Department of Shenanigans.
